Petra is a Software Engineer with a degree in Geoinformatics from CTU in Prague, Czech Republic. After working as a land surveyor for one year during her studies, she realised her true passion was in making the tools that would enable others to create great things. She started to focus more on programming and became a maintainer for GNU Gama – a package for geodetic network adjustment. Before moving to Canada in 2019, she worked as a programmer for a Czech geomatics software company, focusing primarily on C++ and backend development.
Although she doesn’t currently work in the geospatial industry, it is still her mission to make the world a better place by empowering others and helping them to achieve their goals. Being a member of Women+ in Geospatial since 2019, she became part of the Steering Committee at the beginning of 2021 and currently ensures the newsletter gets all important news out to the network.
