Atena Haghighattalab is a geospatial scientist and engineer with over a decade of experience applying advanced technologies to agriculture and food security. She has worked on satellite and UAV-based imaging systems for high-throughput phenotyping in crops like wheat, sorghum, and maize, bridging engineering and science to drive innovative solutions in agricultural and environmental sustainability.
Her career spans academia, startups, and international organizations, including Kansas State University, the University of Minnesota, CGIAR, RoboFlight, and SIG LLC. Currently based in Berkeley, California, Atena specializes in geospatial product management, integrating data-driven approaches to support agricultural innovation.
Originally from Iran, Atena is passionate about empowering women in STEM. As Co-Communication Lead at Women+ in Geospatial, she is committed to amplifying voices and inspiring the next generation of women in geospatial fields. In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, Tai Chi, hiking, and advocating for human and animal rights.
