Elena Field

Elena Field is a GIS and Web Mapping Specialist at British Antarctic Survey, providing geospatial expertise for science and operations activities in the Arctic and Antarctic. She is also Secretary on the UK Antarctic Place names Committee. She has been deployed to the Antarctic many times to provide on the ground geospatial support – which can involve camping at -30°C!

She has a BSc (Hons) degree in Geology at the University of St Andrews and a master’s degree in Geoinformation Technology and Cartography at the University of Glasgow, with distinction.

She joined WiG+ in 2019 and joined the Steering Committee in 2021, and co-leads the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) working group.
